Midori Nishida did not intend to become a naturopathic doctor when she embarked on a career in medicine. "In pre-med school, I worked in an intensive care ward. I didn't like what I saw. No one was listening to the patients." After completing her BS in pre-med, Midori (Dr. Midori) found her niche: naturopathic medicine.
Naturopathic Medicine is a holistic approach to healing, which recognizes not only physical, but also emotional and spiritual causes of illness, or "imbalance." Naturopathic doctors emphasize listening to and empowering the patient rather than just treating the symptoms. Naturopathy recognizes the body's innate ability to heal itself. The goal, then, is to find the cause of an illness and to support the body, through natural methods, in healing itself.
A good doctor can diagnose health problems, as well as prescribe appropriate treatments. With her background in traditional Western medicine, Midori is familiar with medical diagnoses. She is also an astute listener: "The diagnostic process includes determining whether the imbalance comes from a physical, spiritual or emotional source. Physical stressors may include: allergies, chronic infections, life stress, or the presence of heavy metals in the body."
Treatment must be matched to the individual. "Some people respond best to acupuncture, others to homeopathy or herbs. I do basic testing with a machine, (the Vega machine, which measures the electric response of the body on the skin), to individualize the patient protocol."
Midori prides herself on empowering her patients. "Disease is the body's way of saying that something isn't working. Once the healing process begins, people start taking responsibility for healing themselves." She humbly asserts: "Naturopathic doctors are more like teachers. We merely support the patient to help them help themselves."
Tip: "Most chronic skin conditions relate to systemic issues, such as food allergies. If you suffer from eczema, try eliminating various foods from your diet. Then detoxify your liver and digestive tract. Supplementing with omega 3 oils also helps reduce itching and dryness and promotes healing of the skin."
Midori has given me my life back. The doctors had put me on steroids for rheumatoid arthritis and it was just getting worse. Midori determined that I was full of toxins. As we cleared my body and changed my diet, the condition got better. From daily painkillers, 6 pills and weekly injections I am now down to one pill a week. People who know me and saw what I went through are amazed. Midori is a true healer.

I see Midori once a quarter. She is always right on in terms of what I need at that time, whether it’s my liver or my thyroid that needs extra support. She always knows what is going on with my body. Once she diagnosed me with an issue she couldn’t have known about – I knew she was for real then. She shoots for a balanced body.

I was skeptical in the beginning, but after my experience with Midori I am a fan. I had some gastric issues that traditional medicine was not addressing. My wife had a lot of success with Midori so I decided to try her, too. She is also very reasonable – worth every penny!

My daughter’s school environment was making her constantly sick - she had allergies to mold and dust. Midori gave her remedies to help remove toxins from her body and to rebuild her intestinal function. She is rarely sick now. It is wonderful to have a doctor on your side who is there when you need her.

Midori’s Vega Machine is an amazing tool. I credit Midori with much of my progress after I suffered an aneurysm. The work she does is amazing.

I was skeptical of naturopathy, but I tried it for my low immune function. It’s been six months now and I haven’t been sick once.
